Lanes Cove, Gloucester Ma

Home » East Coast Divers Brookline, Massachusetts. Where Boston scuba divers come together. » Local Diving » Lanes Cove, Gloucester Ma

Lanes cove is a nice change of pace from some of the other dives in the area. The parking is good. the walk to the entry point isn’t bad. The entry and exit are often manageable. The Dive is excellent. Once you get into the water you can follow a couple of different headings. There is a large slab about 100 yards out that drops down from 30 to 60 feet. It is home to many types of sea life. There is also unique topography both to the left and right.

OPTIMAL TIDE: High but low is doable

DIFFICULTY: easy to moderate

EXPOSURE: North West

DIVE DESCRIPTION: The entry is safest if you slide in while sitting or kneeling. You only need to swim out 10 to 20 yards before you descend. The average depth of this dive is about 25 to 30 feet until you reach the drop off. Pay attention to long shore currents or you could end up way down from where you started. Be careful lobstering here. The locals can be… touchy.

PARKING: Parking is available in front of the seawall. While there are no problems with parking here some of the locals who are lobstermen are not fans of divers. That being said we’ve never had any problems. Most of the locals are nice, just be respectful.
